Press Release of SANN about Walk for Nepal

Dear respected friends and families,

Happy New Year 2070!!

The Society of American Nepalese Nurses (SANN) would like to express our sincere thanks to all community members for participating in Walk for Nepal to help NAN’s (Nursing Association of Nepal) Senior Citizens’ Home Project in Nepal. Everyone’s enthusiastic and proactive participation for being a walker and sponsor in this noble cause was a great example of community motivation to help Nepal. SANN received an award of $500.00 for mobilizing and inspiring the largest number of registered walkers (over 120) for Walk for Nepal. We raised fund over $3100.00 and it will be donated directly to Senior Citizens’ Home project. It was a marvelous event and we are looking forward to working with NAN to get the Senior Citizens’ Home project in motion!

In the morning of April 14, 2013, Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC became Nepal outside Nepal. There was a huge turnout of Nepalese community members with Nepali flags. Nepali music and songs were spreading a flavor of Nepali culture and heritage in DC. A walk of about 3 kilometers and a shuttle bus ride while singing Nepali songs inside were a unique experience reminding us all of memories of Nepal. We sincerely express our gratitude to many friends and families who spontaneously joined the walk honoring SANN’s request.

Most of the walkers visited Global Fest Nepal after completing Walk for Nepal, another exciting and successful event with Nepali food, music, arts and crafts. SANN would like to thank all media friends for their publicity and would like to thank all community members participating in the program, ranging from the Nepali embassy to school children and youths. Without their help, this success would not have been possible. We also would like to thank Nepal Ko Yuwa for organizing the Walk for Nepal event in Washington DC.

SANN would like to express its sincere thanks to our dear dedicated children walkers Nimisah and Vikram Raj Timsina. It’s amazing that they raised fund close to $600.00 to support NAN’s project!

We apologize if we missed any names (or misspelled) of sponsors and walkers.

Thank you all.
